Calvin Klein, the creator of the legendary American brand, was born in New York. As a boy, he decided to become a designer. His dream began to come true when he borrowed money from an old friend, who later became a partner in his company, to start a business on his own. Klein rented a small exhibition space, where he presented his works. The man who helped Kelvin by borrowing him $ 10,000 remained his business partner until his retirement. The vice president of one of the most prominent department stores in New York wandered into Klein's showroom quite by chance. This man was fascinated by what he saw there and suggested Klein to arrange a meeting for him, with the president of Bonwit Teller.


Soon, Klein's designs were exhibited in the best shop window on the famous Fifth Avenue. A young designer was advertised in New York Times. When Klein's company celebrated one year of existence, he had already earned $ 1 million in revenue. Some people may say that Klein's success was a matter of luck, but his business moves were quite clever. In the outburst of hippie fashion, Klein was among the first to offer trendy sports clothes - dresses, turtlenecks and sweaters. His clothes were devoid of excessive details. A remarkable feature of Klein’s style was also male suits designed for women.


In the years to come, the company enlarged its activity to accessories - glasses, hats, umbrellas, bags and belts emblazoned with the recognizable logo - CK. The production of these accessories brought a huge income. Not only adults, but also youngsters, adore CK brand due to its lower prices in comparison to Ralph Lauren or some other famous designers. The most stunning information about CK Company was the fact that in only 2 days, customers put in orders for nearly $ 30 million after Kelvin Klein fashion show.
Klein's clothes are simple and comfortable and, as such, could become the base for anyone's wardrobe - male or female. Kelvin Klein introduced unisex fashion after he wiped out the boundaries between men's and women's lines. In 1978, the first CK perfume was launched.


Brooke Shields advertised Klein's jeans at the age of fifteen. After that, almost every teenager dreamed about owing a pair of CK jeans. Two million of super-tight jeans were sold. In 1982 Klein introduced a line of male and female underwear. In 2003 Klein sold his company, but remained the main consultant on the famous brand design.
