Sudak Fortress
Sudak is located on the shore of a wide bay in the framework of the mountains, in the pictoresque Rose Valley. Sugdaeya, Soldaya and Surozh are three different names marking three different periods of the city's history. The only surviving witness to its former glory is the Genoese fortress towering high near the city. Its mighty walls made from grey like, jagged towers and ponderous gate keep the spirit of that time and make you feel as if you can sense the excitement and liveliness of this city of merchants and craftsmen. The top of the mountain is crowned by the Consular castle and the Watchtower.
