Velika Hoca

The village of Velika Hoca is a village situated south of the city of Orahovac. It is one of the Serb enclaves in Kosovo. The village has been famous for its old architecture and vineyards and fine wines since 12th century. In 1198 the Great Duke Stefan Nemanja donated the products of the whole region to the monastery of Chelandari (Greece), saying that he himself planted two vineyards. Sources mention 12 churches in the village.

As of January 2009 the village has around 700 residents, of whom the majority are Serbs. Before the Kosovo War of 1999 the village had around 2000 residents.
